Surprise Visit
I decided to make a surprise visit at Halle's school yesterday so I could get a better feel for how Halle spends her time there and get to know the teacher a little better. I arrived at 10:30 and they were playing outside. The teachers were very attentive and the kids seemed very happy. There were only a handful of young kids out there (one and two year olds) and they were all pretty calm and just enjoying the toys and the sunshine. Then Halle's teacher rounded up her kids and brought them inside. She wiped them all down one by one and changed all their diapers. She used a different pair of disposable gloves for each child when changing diapers. They all went to the sink and washed their hands after they got changed. Then, when everyone was clean, they lined up at the door and went into the kitchen for lunch. They all stayed in their seats and ate their lunch. After lunch is nap time. I didn't think Halle would go down for a nap since I was there, but she sure did. It was only day three and she had the routine down. She went right to her blanket and went to sleep. I mentioned to the teacher that Halle brought home an art project her first day, but I hadn't seen any since. I asked her how often they do arts and crafts. She said they do them every day, but almost always in the afternoons. Then today when I went to pick Halle up, she had a new art project (she got to paint with celery sticks today). The teacher said she didnt want Halle to be left out, so she's moved arts and crafts to the mornings now. How sweet! I have to say, I have no complaints so far. :)
